Trends: Corsets

It seems like everywhere I look these days, corsets are becoming more of a staple in wedding gown design. I first noticed this when watching the popular TV series Say Yes To the Dress on TLC...designer Pnina Tornai incorporates the ancient corset into a lot of her creations.  It appears that many designers are taking her lead on this. A lot of brides looking for something different or dramatic seem to love what the corset look adds to their wedding gown style, not to mention their figure. If you're looking to be dramatic in your wedding style, this may be the look for you. I wonder how comfortable these gowns are?

Eco Friendly and Still Glam

Wow, it's all I can say when I look at eco-designer Chris Kole's website thecottonbride.com
Chris has designed some stunning couture gowns worthy of any picky bride's style.
Every gown is hand-sewn and made in the good old U.S.A , composed of an array of cottons, linen or other natural fabrics. Some featuring intricate hand beading and embroidery.
One of my favorite gowns,"Jenna" from his fireflies collection include recycled antique lace! A few others feature really cute eyelet details. I love it! Definitely a vintage lover's paradise....not to mention really good for the environment.
Here are a few of the fabulous dresses from the collection...don't drool too much!

Dress of the Day

Today's dress is is a lovely Pnina Tornai gown designed exclusively for Kleinfeld Manhattan.
It has a vintage art deco feel to it, which I love and drool over. This is a sheath halter style dress that will definitely make a statement with the see through lace panels below the waist that show off your sexy legs! If you're unsure as to what sort of hemline you are looking for, this may be the gown for you. Style No: 32023111

I think I'm in Love

So while perusing the internet for one of a kind vintage inspired gowns, I fell upon a designer by the name of Sarah Houston. I think I love her. Her collections are a mix of modern meets vintage whimsy.I totally adore all of her collections. I need to get my hands on one of these :)

So, For the dress of the day I chose this little number by Sarah Houston...
It is called Hillary and is in her Pearl collection.  Aristocratic and majestic bead-work accents the bodice and flourishes around the shoulders creating a precious adornment emphasizing a cowl neckline. A high waistline elongates the curves of the body and fluid ruffles create an aura of seduction.

Wedding Season

With the Spring Wedding season upon us, I can't help but get excited. Everywhere I look it seems like bride's are opting for the vintage inspired wedding theme...which fits lovingly into the season.
Designers have created gorgeous gowns with classic silhouettes, a touch of flowery embroidery  and delicate lace, creating quite the vintage whimsical look for the spring.

I'm going to start a new trend on this blog called Gown of the Day, where I will try to post some of my absolute favorite unique gowns that I come across. The first gown of the Day is from
one of my absolute favorite designers, Lazaro. He creates stunning gowns that look rich and glamorous. Here is one of my favorites in the spring 2011 collection.  I love the sheer flowy look reminiscent of the Edwardian era.
