Prom 2012 Trend Alert!!

Hello Glammers! (PS. that's my new nickname for my readers, let me know what you think! :))

Prom season is slowly creeping up on us and I know many girls are very anxious to go prom shopping and snag that unique gorgeous gown! But what's "in" you might ask? Worry not, I have compiled a list of the top Prom 2012 trends I am seeing right now from my favorite designers.
Here's what you can look forward to this season.

1. COLOR!!
This season bright bold colors are playing a huge role in gown designs. Brights greens, purples, yellows and blues seem to be very popular.
2. Prints
I am seeing a lot of dresses featuring printed fabrics in flowery designs and also animal prints mixed with bold colors
3. Short Ballerina style gowns
Short gowns are definitely in this year, especially ballerina style dresses perhaps an influence from The Black Swan?
4. Party in the front, elegant in the back
Can's decide if you want a short or long dress? Fear not! This season features a lot of dresses that are cut short in the front with a longer fuller skirt in the back...sort of like a dress mullet
5. Sweetheart Neckline
Most of this season's gowns are sporting the figure flattering sweetheart neck line. I find it suits most people so thumbs up from me :)
6. One shoulder Gowns
Who needs two pesky straps falling down? This year's styles offer many strapless and one shoulder variations.
7. Cutouts
Strategically placed cutout sections are appearing more and more this year with a lot of top designers carrying on this trend.
8. Sleek and Sexy Silhouettes
The days of huge poofy ball gowns are fading away and sleeker, more form flaunting styles are taking over.

So there you have it, the top 8 trends for 2012 prom season. As always I leave you with my favorite gowns this season, showing off these trends of course.
Feast your eyes and Enjoy!!!!!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Brrrr....Today the cold weather hit me like a train off it's tracks. Wild cool blustery wind ran rampid through my jersey thin sweatshirt as I opened the door on my way to class, definitly not an informed choice. When did winter just decide to show up again?  Seriously, winter has decided to become the dead-beat dad of the seasons...turning up out of the blue on Halloween just to say "hi, how ya doing?" and make way again for fall to step back into the picture, now he's back once more. Just yesterday it was 70 degrees here in Philly and I sort of like it that way.  I know, I know, all good things must come to an end as I quickly discovered this morning trying to start my cold weather loathing car. So as reluctant as I am, the time has come to perhaps purchase that winter coat.
I've searched the net for my favorite vintage inspired coats and here's what I've managed to come up with.
 Enjoy!!

Sue Wong Fall 2012 Wedding Gowns

I love wedding gowns, as you all know. I also love Sue Wong. So when the two are together I'm super excitable!!  Fall 2012 looks to be an interesting bridal fashion season. Three big trends are color, sheath, and tulle galore!
Vera Wang shocked the masses by stepping out of her comfort zone with her fall 2012 line of black and brown tulle dresses, if you haven't yet seen them just google Vera Wang fall 2012, they are interesting to say the least. Color is definitely playing a big role next year.
Sue Wong has stuck to her notorious  modern meets Art Deco glam style that's synonymous with all of her designs. I love how she kept up with incorporating fall 2012's trends without losing her niche, though tulle isn't a huge element in her collection.
I love the chique sheath silhouettes and just look at those details!!!

Happy Halloween

Wow time flys by when you are having fun. I apologize yet again for not keeping up with my blog.
It certainly has been a while so here are some updates!!!
I decided at the end of the summer to go back to college. I'm now in an awesome fashion merchandising/design program. Yay!!!!! I'm hoping I can learn how to better run my little business and start properly making my own line of vintage inspired clothing.
My hubby finally found a job, yay for not being unemployed!!!!
I'm going to be an Auntie!!!! My little brother and his girly are  going to be welcoming a baby into the family in the spring. We're all so excited!!!

In other news, since it is Halloween I thought I'd add some vintage inspired costume pictures.
This year we threw a 1950's murder mystery party. I was a Pan Am Stewardess, which seems to be a very popular costume idea this year because of the TV show.
I opted out of the store bought "slutty fill in the blank" costume and decided to make my own.
I'm really happy with how it turned out!!

The skirt-suit was a 1970's vintage find on E-bay for $15 bucks. The hat was 100% handmade for super cheap as well. I'm so happy with how it turned out, considering it was my first attempt at hat making.

Summertime Questions

Hey guys! Hope you are all having a lovely summer.  So I must admit I am a bit of a slacker when it comes to writing blog posts in the summer...shame on me. Today I thought I would ask a few questions and hope someone responds :) I know I know, not the most interesting and fun, but I need some insight....
I love all of the lovely photos that we have taken for our Bold Glamour website and etsy shop. Unfortunately I don't always have my model Annie and her wonderful guy Mark to do photoshoots at any given moment, so I was wondering what do people prefer when buying clothing? To see the garment on an actual model or on a nice dress form?  On a plain solid color back drop or in a scene?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We sort of do a mix of scenes and solid backdrops but I don't know which people like better. I'm thinking about buying a dress form to do some photos with when models aren't available as well.
I'm also looking into adding some other items to the shop instead of just dresses. Any vintage items you would like to see in particular? Let me know! I'm thinking about making some custom vintage inspired hair accessories and vintage themed bath items.

Also to update you all on how things are going with Bold Glamour since switching over to Etsy....slow and steady. Etsy seems to be a bit slower during the summer. Dresses were flying out of here our first few weeks in transition from ebay. I'm hoping things will pick up a bit after some tweaking.
Keep an eye out for our upcoming 1940's inspired shoot!

1920's Fashion

I stumbled upon this video and just had to share, being the vintage lover that I am. I'm hoping I can get some 20's stuff in my shop soon http://www.boldglamourvintage.etsy.com/. It is so hard to find clothing from the 20's in decent shape. The flapper dresses were so pretty.
In other news, I have some updates for you guys! I started a Facebook page at last for my shop..so please "like" us. Click here to go to our Facebook page and Like us. I will be putting discount codes for my shop up on Facebook for my fans once I get to 100 likes. Tell your friends!! I'm working on adding much more to my shop so keep checking back for updates!! Also in the works is a youtube channel featuring some of our finds and chronicling a day in the life of our shop. If you have any ideas of things to feature please let me know in the comments!!
